UTAH COUNTY — Authorities are searching for two individuals who were last believed to be on Utah Lake Saturday afternoon.
The Utah County Sheriff’s Office received a call at approximately 1:30 a.m. saying that two men on a single Jet Ski had left from the Knolls area of Utah Lake around 4:20 p.m. on Saturday and had not returned, Utah County Sheriff’s Sgt. Spencer Cannon said.
The relatives of the missing men discovered their truck parked with all their stuff in it, Cannon said. The Utah County Sheriff’s office searched Utah Lake for approximately three hours early Sunday morning, including with a Department of Public Safety helicopter, he added. Crews resumed the search later Sunday morning.
Beyond entering Utah Lake from the Knolls area, Cannon said officials are unsure where the men might have gone.
“We really have no idea exactly where they went from there, if they’re missing in the lake, or if they got off the lake,” Cannon said
Cannon asked anyone who may have seen the duo to call the Utah County Sheriff’s Office 801-851-4000 to help them narrow down their search.
In May of last year, two girls drowned at the Knolls area on Utah Lake.
Utah County Sheriff’s Office has established a command center at Lincoln Beach where they will continue to coordinate the search, Cannon said.
