LOGAN — A Logan man accused of sexually assaulting women in multiple cases is now accused of assaulting an inmate at the Cache County Jail.
Wyatt Dean Martin, 24, was charged Friday in 1st District Court with mayhem, a second-degree felony.
On Tuesday, Martin became upset with another inmate he claimed was making too much noise after “lights out,” which is the time inmates are required to be quiet in their bunks, according to a police affidavit. Martin walked over to the victim’s bunk and after exchanging words with him, punched him in the side of the head, the affidavit states.
“When Wyatt punched the victim in the side of the head, the punch caused the ear lobe to be split. The injury required the patient to be transported to the hospital for stitches to reconnect the two separated parts of the ear lobe,” according to the affidavit.
Wyatt was in the Cache County Jail awaiting trial on several cases in which he’s accused of sexually assaulting women. In three cases filed in 2018, he is charged in total with two counts of rape, two counts of object rape, aggravated kidnapping, obstructing justice, electronic voyeurism, drug possession, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a firearm by a restricted person.
Prosecutors have requested Martin continue to remain in jail without bail.
