22-year-old Utah man dies in May 3 Nevada crash

A Utah man died in a crash in rural Nevada last week.

The crash took place about 8:20 p.m. May 3 on U.S. Highway 6, about 24 miles north of Tonopah in Esmerelda County in the southwest part of the state, according to a Tuesday news release from the Nevada Highway Patrol.

Christopher Delgado-Rosas, 22, of North Salt Lake, died in the crash, troopers said.

Delgado-Rosas was driving a 1998 Chevrolet S10 pickup truck east in the westbound travel lanes, according to the news release. It’s not clear why the truck was traveling against oncoming traffic.

The driver of a westbound semitrailer attempted to steer to the right and avoid hitting Delgado-Rosas’s truck, but the two vehicles collided, and the impact pushed the pickup truck off the road.

Delgado-Rosas was not wearing a seatbelt and died at the crash scene, troopers said.

The highway was closed in both directions while authorities investigated the crash, the release said.

The crash is still under investigation. Anyone who witnessed it or has any more information is asked to call the Nevada Highway Patrol at 775-753-1111.

Further details about the crash weren’t released.
