SALT LAKE CITY — A man was arrested for investigation of attempted murder and kidnapping after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend, stabbed her, and drove her to a cemetery where he questioned her.
Albert Ishanti Givens, 32, was booked into Salt Lake County Metro Jail on Friday, court documents show.
Officers were dispatched to Inn Towne Suites, 151 W 7200 South, in Midvale on Thursday for an assault with a weapon. Salt Lake police learned that the woman had been stabbed at the inn and transported to University Hospital to be treated for her injuries.
According to court documents, the woman told officers that Givens had been using methamphetamine over the course of the last week. She indicated that Givens believed he was hearing voices and that people were listening to him.
“The Victim told Officer Hampton that at one point he pointed at the bed and told her to sit on it, and then mounted her while wielding a knife. The Victim said while on top of her, Albert held her down by her throat, hit her in the eye with the handle of the knife and told her, ‘You’re dead, I’m going to kill you’ and then stabbed in her in the abdomen area,” according to court documents.
